It also means that an employer cannot fire, demote, discriminate or otherwise retaliate against an employee for complaining about employment law violations, such as complaining about unpaid overtime or failure to provide meal and rest breaks.

It is illegal for an employer to retaliate against an employee for reporting harassment, discrimination or other illegal activities.
