Julia Cottrell is a Shareholder* and the Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer at Matern Law Group, PC, where she oversees firmwide strategy, branding, marketing, and client intake operations.
Prior to joining Matern Law Group, Ms. Cottrell trained and practiced transactional law at leading international law firms, including Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer and Weil, Gotshal & Manges, gaining experience in complex commercial matters.
Ms. Cottrell brings a distinctive combination of legal training and executive leadership to the firm. She has extensive experience in the legal industry and is deeply focused on the strategic and operational side of building a modern plaintiff-side law firm.
Ms. Cottrell earned her LL.B. in Law from the Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London, graduating with Upper Second Class Honours. She also holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

In pursuit of a passion for social justice, MLG also volunteers through The Satyagraha Foundation to support philanthropic collaboration in charitable, educational, environmental, religious, literary, and scientific endeavors.
Ms. Cottrell is committed to serving her community. In 2017, she helped to set up The Satyagraha Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to ending homelessness and provide resources to underserved communities. She has served as its Treasurer, and currently serves as its Secretary. She has also been a Wish Granter with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and has served on the Young Professionals Advisory Council for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
