California Laws Protect You

Discrimination
The CROWN (Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair) Act is a California law which prohibits discrimination based on hair style and hair texture and is the first legislation passed at the state level in the United States to prohibit such discrimination.
Harassment
It is unlawful to harass a woman because of pregnancy, childbirth, or a medical condition related to pregnancy or childbirth. Harassment is illegal when it is so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile or offensive work environment or when it results in an adverse employment decision (such as the victim being fired or demoted).
Family Medical & Disability
An employer may not refuse to hire and may not discharge, fine, suspend, expel, retaliate or discriminate against any employee because he or she exercises their right to family care and medical leave.
Meal & Rest Breaks
In most circumstances, California law stipulates that hourly employees cannot work for more than five hours per day without being provided with at least one uninterrupted meal break of at least 30-minutes’ duration.

An employee who is terminated or laid off must be paid all of his or her earned and unpaid wages, including unused vacation or other paid time off, at the time of termination.
