$8.5 Million Settlement in California Wage and Hour Class ActionPonce v. CH2M Hill Engineers, Inc., et al.

Matern Law Group secured an $8.5 million settlement in a class and representative action involving allegations of wage and hour violations against CH2M Hill Engineers, Inc., Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., Jacobs Solutions Inc., and related defendants.

The lawsuit alleged that employees were not provided legally compliant meal periods and rest breaks, were not properly paid overtime and minimum wages, did not receive all wages due upon separation, were provided inaccurate wage statements, and were not reimbursed for necessary business expenses. The action also sought civil penalties under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).

The defendants denied wrongdoing and liability. Following mediation, the parties reached an agreement resolving the matter for a gross settlement amount of $8.5 million.
